All the Caterpillars soon to become Butterflys

Caterpillar One and Caterpillar three are still in there green Chrysalis’s but they have become darker as shown in the below pictures. Caterpillar two has now begun to spin its Chrysalis and it will be fully formed by tomorrow.

New Chryalis found?

This afternoon, after getting three more swan plants, i found that there was another Chrysalis hidden on my Bonsai pot a good 12 feet away from the swan plant. We didn’t think we had anymore caterpillars other than the two so it must have been one we thought was eaten by a wasp. Were going to assume it has crawled its way there.

Day Two Caterpillar One

March 6, 2009

Surprisingly the same caterpillar from yesterday has already made its full Chrysalis after 24 hours, when i checked it this morning. It is still raining in Auckland but its defiantly still hanging on as you can see in the picture and in hopefull the next 24 hours it will become a clear Chrysalis.

Day One Caterpillar One

March 6, 2009

This morning I checked my two remaining caterpillars (The others having been eaten by wasps) and to my delight one has attached itself to a leaf and has starting spinning its chrysalis. It has been raining heavily in Auckland (New Zealand) and the poor little thing even has droplets of water on him/her (unsure) as seen in photo. Having checked again six hours later she/he is still happily attached to the leaf but more rain is forecast for the weekend, so I hope it will stay hanging on. More ...
